Tootie Heath is a living legend of the drums. The youngest brother of the famous Heath Brothers, Tootie has played, recorded, toured and hung-out with the most famous players in jazz– from John Coltrane, Wes Montgomery, Sonny Rollins and Dexter Gordon… to Herbie Hancock, Nina Simone, Yusef Lateef and saxophonist Doug Lawrence. He and Doug plan to bend your ears with some tales from the jazz lives they've lived!

Tootie developed the Whole Drum Truth to pay homage to many of the great drummers who contributed to jazz history. The Whole Drum Truth moves the drums from the "back line" into the spotlight. The music is all-percussion, but melodies shine through, because of the drummers' exquisite subtlety on their tuned instruments. 

After a showcase set with the Whole Drum Truth, Tootie's Trio wll take over with a Special Guest to be announced.

A little bit hip-hop, a lot of searing observation and soul… poet and vocalist Ebony Booth sheds light on black feminism, racism and inequality, social justice, and, most importantly, self love. Her captivating performance style is swinging, humorous and HOT. Poet and 'meditating natural mystic' Michael Datcher opens with his take on "productive through joy". 

Enjoy a stimulating night of Poetry in performance– colored by the brilliant jazz accompaniment of the John Rangel Trio.
